The Last Post Of The Year

Reflecting 2009...

Instead of partying or going out on New Year's Eve, I have decided to stay at home and make time for myself. Ain't it better that way? Of course I can finally have dinner with my beloved parents(hope mommy cooks!) and spend family time with them! I have been coming home late too often.

Anyway, 2009 is coming to an end!! Well, allow me to list down some of the stuff worth remembering. Hahaha.

-Getting into Choir ministry

-Having to pass my BTT and FTT within 3 months

-Getting bonded with KKH

-Getting into NYP musical

-Various performances in school and church

-Travelling to Melbourne for the first time to visit JingWei

-Getting THAT close to my idol(s)

-Having my fastfood fast and completing them TWICE

-Riding a bicycle almost everyday to the MRT station when going to school

-Getting to carry babies (in my KKH attachment)

-Getting the habit of stayover a people's house and not coming home till dawn

-Knowing how to put fake eyelashes

-Complete reading 4 of the "Diary of  Wimpy Kid" books

-Started clubbing

Ok, the last few are just rubbish. They are totally not worth remembering.

Now, for things I wanna accomplish in 2010! :D

-Get my driving lisence

-Attain an GPA of 3

-Lose weight (secret number)

The rest are kinda personal. Hahaha :/

I realise that this year had been a lil tough for me, but altogether it made me a stronger person! Alright, I think it's kinda boring for people to read someone else's thoughts and feelings blah blah blah. I shall proceed to sleep on the very comfortable queen sized bed! :D

Christmas is finally over @_@

Finally, I had the whole of today to catch up on my sleep (i woke up at noon and took a 3 hour nap) and to do up some school stuff (which i will do LATER at night :D). Nevertheless, Christmas was awesome! Ok, I spent A LOT of money buying a few but expensive Christmas gifts to the ones closer to me. I guess I need to be very particular in spending my money from now onwards :/

The past few days were packed with BBQ with my bunch of my classmates, my cellgroup party, chilling with my secondary school friends, a family gathering and Christmas services! I kinda regretted that I went to bed while the guys were having a whole lot of fun at PeiXian's living room :( Oh well, there must be a next time!! Hehe. I want all the sabotages! Well, at least with the sleeping, I managed to keep myself awake during Christmas service :) The drama brought tears to my eyes once again...

Urgh, I only have one more week of holidays before heading to NUH for my 3 week attachment :( Not that I HATE attachment but I rather have holidays. (like DUH, who doesn't?!) Hahaha :P Actually attachment isn't THAT bad. I figured that I usually have more time spent at home compared to when I have school lessons. Which is good! I don't want to treat my home like a hotel. Maybe it's time I should start contributing in doing the laundry.

These books keep me going on :) And YAY! I have the whole collection! I am currently waiting for the 5th book which will be out next year. YEAH!

And here's the reason why I love reading this book :) My favourite character is Rowley!!! Though he is stupid and blur at times (ok, all the time), he never fails to cheer me up, especially when Greg (the main character) describes his best friend. Here's a lil sample I got from google images.

2009 is coming to an end!! I'll be turning 20 next year already! Oh goodness, and I'm reading a kid's book :/ Just wanna say that though I know I'm ending the year in a horrible way, I believe that 2010 will be an even better year for me! :D And God said so too!

Yesterday, clique slept over at my place! Well, it wasn't that bad I must say. My favourite part was eating instant noodles in the kitchen. It felt so much like a camp! Hehehe.

Boring!

I think my blog is getting more and more boring. Maybe it is due to the lack of activites I am having right now. But worry not, Christmas is coming! :D Tons of activites coming up! Gatherings, musical rehearsals blah blah blah.

Talking about musical rehearsals, I am getting to know the dancers more! They are really nice people :) Just added them on facebook and started stalking them by looking at their photos. Well, I'm gonna spend A LOT of time with them for the next one and a half month! So no harm being extra friendly :)

She is such a dear to us. Very understanding and patient. My inspiration(another one. haha)! Yeah, I might be doing palletive care when I grow older! She was so nice that she popped by our tutorial class to give us chocolate and candy canes form Christmas :) So, she deserves a kiss!

Madness

Ok, it feels like I'm having holidays already. Seesh. Yesterday I managed to meet up with JingWei and Roy for our Little India lunch at Tekka Market! I must say that the tulang wasn't that good. Babe, we'll go to West Coast Market or somewhere else another time ok!! One thing for sure, I am having a sore throat :(

After lunch we roamed around the area, and brought JingWei to those new places... Which was to her diasppointment? Wahahaha.

Urgh, I just came back this morning from Ronaldo's house. A couple of us stayed over to just spend the last few hours with him (and his house). It was fun as we watched movies, played his PS3 and Xbox, and also L4D in his computer. Most of all, we're all gonna miss him :( Well, I hope he'll come back once in awhile!

Time for school! Urgh!

Woohoo! Tests are over! I need not study or touch any school related stuff until the end of January! Provided that I am so smart that I do not need to study for my exams.

Went out with Dad today and we had Penang Laksa and Fried Kway Teow for late lunch. YUMMY! Kind of sad to see my effort of losing weight going down the drain. Ok, just kidding. I will exercise more to compansate all these sinful food. If not, my health counseller would be wondering why on earth am I not losing any weight. Wahahaha.

Headed to bugis after that. There are so many things I wanna buy! :( Nevermind, will be going there with JingWei and Roy tomorrow again after our Tulang date! Weehee! Let's get ready to make our fingers RED!!!!!

Week 8 isn't THAT bad afterall :)

Came back from musical vocal training not too long ago and it was good! :) I just can't wait for the costumes, make up, stage lights, mics, backstage and the audience! It is a very big exposure to me, and I hope that I can gain as much expirence as I can through the practices!

On the way home, sorry Shikin made you go home alone :( But I know you were really tired and needed the time to study for the 3 tests you have! Anyway break a leg ok?! I'm sure you do well, as usual. Hehehe.

Had the chance (for the first time) to go home with Rene, Carlos and Shaoyu together! And also a group photo taken together for the first time!

Kinda funny lah. People coming from my 2 aspects of life together! Small world isn't it? What's more, more time will be spent during those intensive musical practices! Especially when we stay near each other. LOL.

Had supper with ShaoYu and Carlos at Bt Gombak. We have yummy pig trotters(ok, i feel fat and guilty now. and my counseller is gonna kill me if she ever finds out). But it was good! I didn't have dinner anyway! Hmph!

Oh goodness! Chicago is coming to Singapore!!!!!!!! I am contemplating if I should go and watch it :( I think the Aussie cast is worth watching for the 2nd time!!!! Unless....... is anyone out there willing to bless me with a ticket? :D I will love you with all my heart! Oh, but a MUST GET for me is the blink blink Chicago T-shirt! I hope they sell it cheaper here. Hehe. I LOVE the ensemble! Ok, random.

Above all these, the most happy thing is that JingWei is coming back today!!! WOOHOO!

Celebrating Life

I am learning to count my blessings. It seems that if I do more of that, everything would just fall into place for me. Probably, it's just the alteration of my perception.

At the beginning of this week, I was dwelling on something so negative. So many "what ifs" came into my mind. I could just sit in the lecture hall with the lecturer teaching, and I would be in a daze. Maybe I was just self-pitying myself. It was until after school when one of my classmate started sharing about her dream of going to Thailand to help those children infected with AIDS. She watched this show featuring them. What impacted her was when one of the kid said, "I know that I am not going to live for very long. But I am contented that I can live up till today."

That struck me. Have I been so complacent that I have forgotten all the things I have been blessed with? I have parents who love me, a school to go to, friends who will be there for me.

I celebrate life, never will I get sad over that matter again. I know God has a way for me :)

Hohoho! It's December!

2009 is coming to an end. I remember counting down to 2009 with JingWei at my place. Time flies huh! 2010 is coming already. And it's the year that I will turn 20. Goodness!

I have been prompted a lot to think about what happened over the year. Overall, I felt that 2009 is(was) a year for me to learn and humble myself. Not forgetting the series of fastfood fasts. Heehee. I completed one in July and November! So proud of myself! :D And being exposed to musical performances in school. Heehee. And getting my bond with KKH. And seeking wisdom from the people older than me(because they went through life more than me). And the exposure to so many things in church. And the list just goes on...

Other than that, I have so much to think about. I will find one day during the holidays to just stay at home and think about my life. Reflecting makes things much more meaningful! :D

On a side note, HAPPY 25th BIRTHDAY MALCOLM!!! Come back soon so that I can go to your room and disturb you. I also miss playing with all the gadgets you have. Hehe. Since I'm older right now, maybe we can play skirmish games together? :) We can also gossip about our friends and all. (ok, we dont gossip, we analyze people. and jeez, i dont know that i can actually do that with my brother!)

Alright, time for me to have a good night's rest before studying for my killer week 8 :( But no worries, it'll be over soon! Whee!

Christmas is coming!

Well, my Christmas wish to just do well in my upcoming tests. I'll be very happy as long as I at least a B or more kind of standard. I know it's a lame thing to wish for Christmas but oh well, my intial wish will never happen, so no point wishing for it.

Tomorrow's my practical test! You can say that I'm confident (as always) but I am just so scared that I may make some kind of stupid mistake and fail :( Yeah, once bitten, twice shy. I have been drilling the points into my head the whole evening though I think that it's kinda useless because we learn by practicing, not reading words. So, all the best to me!

Of course, congrats to JingWei for doing so well in her first semester! I feel so envious and I just hope that I can get distinctions and all when watching YouTube at times. OOPS!!! Probably is all about relying on the strength of God :D Maria, you can do it! :D Heehee.

It is now December of 2009 and it has been 2 years. Nope, nothing changed.

Crazy weekend

Before I turn off and start my intensive study(which i hope to really do it), I shall share what I have been doing over the long weekend! It has been a treat for me and I am very thankful for it.

On Friday, met up with the Poly peeps to celebrate Shu Xian's birthday and do some SHOPPING!

LingLi wore a dress that day... So sweet! :D

I managed to "reward" myself with a few stuff that I bought. But seriously, it's not enough! Hahaha! I shall do even more shopping when the upcoming tests are over! Christmas is truly a season of giving. Yeah, I felt that stretch on Friday. I hope that person will be blessed! :D

After shopping, went to Mark's house for a fantastic cgm!! Phoebe, no worries, we are doing well!

From there, I proceeded to Sebawang's Home Team NS chalet for Pei Xian birthday celebration!!! At 12 mindnight, we had this series of thingys for her. She was allowed to enter the room at all, until 12. As she was blind folded at the room outside, we were supposed to ignite the party poppers. I accidently said, "I am so afraid to pop!!!" And Sishi slapped me immediatedly. HAHAHA. How careless of me. Oopsy. So yay, after opening her eyes, we presented her with a pretty cake they designed. Then, we asked her to find her present under a pile of balloons. That wasn't any presents though, and Sheng Jie popped out from underneath and gave the birthday girl a fright!

We were all orderd to take a shower(thankfully i brought my clothes!!) before part 2... Heeheehe. We created a square with the table full of drinks in the middle!!!

After that we had a series of games. My favourite part was that we could laugh all night. Hehehe.

More than that, we chatted and had questions like, "If you could kill one person, who would that be?" and "Who would you want to spend the rest of your life with?" Pei Xian seemed to be the most popular person and I was so jealous. Hahaha!

I managed to get like 2-3 hours of sleep... We woke up and I(and some others) had to leave already.

Went home, took and bath and proceeded to JW church for Tim's baptism! Congrats boy!

Service was awesome and it'll be something I'll remember in the long run :)

When I got home, I managed to catch Phoebe on skype and I chatted with Jing and Phoebe!! Was happy, of course! :D Glad to hear that they are enjoying themselves over there as well... I just can't wait for them to return! Have to be patient on that. Yeah, and we talked for like 1 hour...

Alright, the worst part of Sunday... Got to go study now! :/

Ok, I feel so much better after doing abit of school work! Nothing much, just preparing myself mentally for the crazy week 8!!!!!!! Can you believe it?! 2 project presentations and 2 tests on Tuesday and 1 test on Thursday. Not forgetting, 2 tests on week 7. Well, I hope I can do well admist of all the busyness.

I mean you would be thinking, "Oh man, why don't you just start studying when you reach home?" Well, I usually reach home at 11. Haha. I feel that I can't run away from it? You can't just expect me to quit whatever I'm doing now right? I think I'm coping well, if I stop doing up my jigsaw puzzle and stop playing bejeweled on facebook. Hahaha.

I'm very happy cos another of my childhood dream has been fulfilled!!! - To perform like a Hi-5 member. The event was good, the kids were all so spontaneous!! But knowing about their lives made me realise how blessed I am.

It's a 4 hour break in school and I'm gonna make good use of every single minute of it! :D I am determined, I can do it!!!

PRETTY!!!! Oh dear, that means I will look uglier and fatter when I grow up (no offense Kellie!).

It's been almost a decade since Hi-5 started and I have to say that I am really disappointed with the new Hi-5 team :( Not their fault actually that they look ugly or can't sing as well but it just feels different! Goodbye to Charli, Nathan, Tim, Kathleen and my favourite member, Kellie. Ok, anyway I have to get real. They're all aging and can no longer entertain kids like some young adults. Well, all I can do is to look at their videos. I still thought I had hope in meeting and taking a photograph with them :/

Weeks ago I signed up for some nutrition thingy in school. I thought I had to attend a lecture and that was it. But I was wrong. I am now being followed up by a lecturer. She wants me to record my diet and exercise daily. I didn't know that the school would take it so seriously. So yeah, I have a personal counsellor! Wooahh! It's a one-on-one session weekly so I can have all the attention! All the attention to have the motivation to slim down of course.

Then, I won't be looking fat and ugly when I turn 35.

Today for SoundCard practice we had fun! Expressing ourselves, making up stories with songs... Looks like we're heading to a better direction yeah! Really kudos to P and VPs :) I just can't wait to see another batch of juniors coming in. I believe that we will grow to greater and even more greater heights!

The weekends are here once again! I just need to pull up my socks. Grrrr. Yes please. Maria Boey, you better exercise some self-discipline here. The activites in school and other stuff is not an excuse.

Studied in school already but still feel it is not enough. But there's no mood as well.

Ok, enough being so whiney about food. How to solve the problem? Have a really, really, really, really good breakfast tomorrow! :D

Ok, this is driving my stomach nuts. Sleeping shall do the trick.

Well, I've been reading this! Jeez, I only take about 2 days to finish a book!!!

Yeah, I know it's kinda childish to read books with lil drawings and bigger fonts. But seriously, I LOVE this series!! The book cover there says that 25million books are sold in the US. Like come on, would 25million children be reading this? I bet not!

I just like the writer being frank and brutally honest about his life (even though its fiction). It also gives me the sastisfaction of reading someone else's diary without them knowing!! It's kinda sad that my brother or parents don't have any diary so I can't secretly read them. At least, this books allow me to do so!!!

I so want to write like the writer but I sadly I don't have the talent for doing so. I do know friends that write like that sometimes!!! They are JingWei and Timothy!!! Timothy, mind abit of publicity? ;) Click here to view his blog!

I am so, so glad that I managed to have time for myself. Seriously, reaching home at 5pm is like the best thing ever(even though i know that most of my friends complain that 5pm is really late). Managed to take a nap and complete a couple of stuff. One thing I have learnt over the days... Stonning at facebook is a waste of time!!! I think facebook surfing is only good when you're doing an essay, where you can just pop by and stalk your friends when you're still thinking of what to write. But too bad, I don't have essays to do this semester.

Oh, I had this nutrition and exercise talk earlier on... I must say that I've got a lot of information! It was worth the staying back! Tips you guys can take from me: If you're hungry and want a snack, take nuts. Try to avoid food with a lot of gravy. You don't know what has been added in there and we Singaporeans need to reduce the sodium(salt) intake. And of course, avoid the obviously unhealthy food.... A lecturer from Melbourne gave us the lecturer. It was funny that she kinda mocked at the rubbish food we have here in Singapore. No doubt about that, Singapore produces a lot of unhealthy food. But I was like, "OooOooo, look who's talking!" Melbourne dosen't have a lot of healthy food either. I can see fastfood everywhere and their serving can be about twice of ours? But what's good is that they have a culture of packing lunch to work(so that is maybe why she had to mock at us). Well, I will do that when I start working. Because food in KK is very expensive. So, I hope to be healthier over the month!

Doesn't mean if you're skinny with excellent BMI, you are healthy. Though we have lesser obese people compared to the US, our rates of people suffering from heat diseases are high! That's something to think about.

The beauty of Chinese

Ok, I know I am not really good in Chinese but wow, I think my Chinese name is really a rare one! It's one of a kind. (okay, my whole name altogether is already one of a kind -_-) I think I live up to my name. Not bragging or anything, but it's really true!!!

Mei Su Ci

梅- Mei. My surname. Well, it comes from the word Mei Hua which means Plum Blossom. Haha, ok, I know I am not pretty but I do love flowers :) Plum Blossom only blooms during winter. If I intepret it, it would be like, "During the darkess and the coldest moments in life, one still blooms strongly and beautifully!" Wow, I will always be strong and be at my peak whenever the situations around me are down yeah.

素- Su. Which represents vegetarian. Ok, fine I know I am no vegetarian or vegan(shall blame my mom for feeding me meat my whole life), but I love nature! Bring me overseas and I would ask for any nature sights. Ahhh, that is my kind of heaven! :)

慈- Ci. Which comes from Ci San (Charity). Well, is being a nurse considerd as doing something charitable? I know I don't work for free though. Hahaha. But I long to do relief work one day :D

So there you go! My Chinese name!! My Mom told me that she got my name from a monk, so it sounds really buddhist. Funny thing is, I was born a Christian. Haha. Yeah, my parents were converted the year I was born. I wonder what was the great impact.

I guess, you must be wondering, "What about my English name?!"

Well, it's less complicated compared to my Chinese name. My parents told me that they watched the Sound Of Music and was inspired by the name "Maria". It starts with 'M' as well because 'M' had something to do with music. If my name was not Maria, it would be Melody. So, "Maria" sounds better for me right?! Hahaha.

For Baguita(preferred to be pronounced as "ber-gi-te"), it is my baptism name. I kinda saw it online(and you know how inaccurate internet sources are) and felt in love with it!!! I found that names are actually derived for simpler names. So that similiar simpler name was "Bernita" which means "Blessed". Yeah, you make think it's rubbish and all, but come on, I was only 14. Hahaha. Well, if I were to be some English poet, you would think otherwise.

I love my name!!! Here's a suggestion... Before laughing at people's name(im not offended at all actually), why don't you just stop, think and admire how on Earth this name came about.

After the celebrations and dinner, we went to One Fullerton's Starbucks!! It was my first time going there and yay!!! Managed to see Acelyn and WanTing working! It was also cool when we got to see so many people going to Butter Factory dressed up with all the costumes!

Call it a coincidence or what??!?!?! I went to the toilet say about 5 minutes after Phoebe, Xue Er and Roy came back... While in the cubical, I saw a black handphone. I thought it would be some of those ladies that were still in the toilet touching up on their costumes and all. I was so ready to go out and ask them if the handphone belonged to them. Well, to my surprise, it was a familiar HTC! Saw the contacts and I knew it was Phoebe's!!! From that moment on, I felt so proud of myself. HAHAHA! But yeah! Phoebe!! Please becareful, unless you want a new phone! :P
