I Know Him So Well

Nothing is so good it lasts eternally
Perfect situations must go wrong
But this has never yet prevented me
Wanting far too much for far too long.

DD & JDC

Caught Dirty Dancing with Valerie last Saturday! It was quite a last minute thing! Yay!! We got $125(actually $150, I will explain why later) seats for $78 only!! Woohoo!

The musical was OKAY. Just isn't the musical that I'm so into. All the leads only danced and they prolly only sang 1 or 2 songs. It was more of the ensemble who were singing while the lead couple danced. You know, the singer just singing in the bar while the dancers danced. Don't have those emotional dialogue which then leads to a song. Or no song sung completely by the cast.

Anyway, there were so many empty seats in the front! So with my thick-skiness, Val and I went to the Cat A seats during the intermission. We did like immediately after the lights were on. Then, we realised that some other people did the same thing soon after. The group behind us settled down but then the ushers actually asked for their tickets and asked them to go back. We were pretending to be calm and praying like mad that no one who ask us for our tickets. THANKFULLY, WE WERE NOT CAUGHT and I managed to enjoy the facial expressions of the cast! :D

This is stupid, seriously. The front was really, really, really empty, and why are you stopping people from going to the front? Are you all like despising poor people who cannot afford the better seats? It's not as if we are taking occupied/paid seats. We are just filling up the front. Even if I'm rich, I'm cool to let people just find their way to the front(as long as they are not blocking me. hehe). And even as a cast, I will want people to come to the front so it will give me some psychological support, that someone is actually watching closely at every movement I make. DON'T TELL ME THEATER ETHICS cos I never experienced this before overseas(because the musicals I watch are usually a full house). You wanna talk about theater ethics? Then tell me why an usher had to block my view during the finale/curtain call to bring a wheelchair in for an ah ma sitting nearby? I was distracted and that spoilt my curtain call/finale moment! $&^&^%$##

Okay, at night I went to St James to support the JDC girls in another dance competition! ^^

Always loving their outfits!! :) And they made it to the finals!!!! WOOOHOOOO! Go go go girls!!

Ok bye!

Gone Home With The Lord

Recently, I had this patient with Ovarian Cancer at a pretty late stage. She was in her early 40s and was English-speaking. She looked pretty bad the first time I saw her. Always in pain, restless and uncomfortable. At that moment, I could tell that she wasn't gonna live long.

We did some symptomatic treatment in the hospital and she felt so much better. She was no longer restless and could talk and walk, with assistance. Then, I thought that she'll live past the chemo and operation the doctors had planned for her.

While I was dressing her abdominal drain dressing, she was playing "You Are Good" by Bethel Church on her phone and that's how I knew she was a Christian. I asked the usual questions like which church she came from, did she grow up a Christian etc etc. She then shared with me that her parents aren't saved but she really wanted to testify God this period. Hoping to involve this sickness to share God's goodness to them. I encouraged her by telling her about my grandparents- How they accepted Christ in their last days.

She wasn't really believing God to cure her totally. But just believing that the different treatment she goes through would be smooth and painless, which really happened and we praised God for that together. She also told me she was so ready when it is time to go home with the Lord. I told her most importantly, we have the peace of God. The peace of God to go through all the physical and emotional obstacles. She couldn't agree with me more.

I remember inserting an IV cannula for her last Friday. It was not easy but I succeeded. I went, "Praise God" and she said, "All the time..."

Those were the last few moments I got to see her. She was transferred to ICU on Monday for some complications and I received news this evening that she had passed on.

I feel sad and shocked by her "sudden death", because I really thought we could have more chance to talk about God.

But what matters now is that she's with God right now, genuinely smiling and no longer suffering.

RIP Jan.
