The beauty of Chinese

Ok, I know I am not really good in Chinese but wow, I think my Chinese name is really a rare one! It's one of a kind. (okay, my whole name altogether is already one of a kind -_-) I think I live up to my name. Not bragging or anything, but it's really true!!!

梅素慈
Mei Su Ci

梅- Mei. My surname. Well, it comes from the word Mei Hua which means Plum Blossom. Haha, ok, I know I am not pretty but I do love flowers :) Plum Blossom only blooms during winter. If I intepret it, it would be like, "During the darkess and the coldest moments in life, one still blooms strongly and beautifully!" Wow, I will always be strong and be at my peak whenever the situations around me are down yeah.

素- Su. Which represents vegetarian. Ok, fine I know I am no vegetarian or vegan(shall blame my mom for feeding me meat my whole life), but I love nature! Bring me overseas and I would ask for any nature sights. Ahhh, that is my kind of heaven! :)

慈- Ci. Which comes from Ci San (Charity). Well, is being a nurse considerd as doing something charitable? I know I don't work for free though. Hahaha. But I long to do relief work one day :D

So there you go! My Chinese name!! My Mom told me that she got my name from a monk, so it sounds really buddhist. Funny thing is, I was born a Christian. Haha. Yeah, my parents were converted the year I was born. I wonder what was the great impact.

I guess, you must be wondering, "What about my English name?!"

Well, it's less complicated compared to my Chinese name. My parents told me that they watched the Sound Of Music and was inspired by the name "Maria". It starts with 'M' as well because 'M' had something to do with music. If my name was not Maria, it would be Melody. So, "Maria" sounds better for me right?! Hahaha.

For Baguita(preferred to be pronounced as "ber-gi-te"), it is my baptism name. I kinda saw it online(and you know how inaccurate internet sources are) and felt in love with it!!! I found that names are actually derived for simpler names. So that similiar simpler name was "Bernita" which means "Blessed". Yeah, you make think it's rubbish and all, but come on, I was only 14. Hahaha. Well, if I were to be some English poet, you would think otherwise.

I love my name!!! Here's a suggestion... Before laughing at people's name(im not offended at all actually), why don't you just stop, think and admire how on Earth this name came about.

Happy Halloween ya'll! I told my friends I won't be celebrate all these kind of things but I was too attracted to them when I saw those lying on the floor doing nothing! :P

The cellgroup celebrated Roy's birthday and I hope you liked it Roy!!! :D Happy 21st!! All the best in whatever you do!!

After the celebrations and dinner, we went to One Fullerton's Starbucks!! It was my first time going there and yay!!! Managed to see Acelyn and WanTing working! It was also cool when we got to see so many people going to Butter Factory dressed up with all the costumes!

Call it a coincidence or what??!?!?! I went to the toilet say about 5 minutes after Phoebe, Xue Er and Roy came back... While in the cubical, I saw a black handphone. I thought it would be some of those ladies that were still in the toilet touching up on their costumes and all. I was so ready to go out and ask them if the handphone belonged to them. Well, to my surprise, it was a familiar HTC! Saw the contacts and I knew it was Phoebe's!!! From that moment on, I felt so proud of myself. HAHAHA! But yeah! Phoebe!! Please becareful, unless you want a new phone! :P

I was just viewing the photos and videos on the preparation of ClubCrawl 09 to advertise for the Broadway Musical!!! I was really excited while we were putting all the effort during practices. Had a great performance during ClubCrawl itself and right now I just came back home from the 3rd practice session of NYP's "A Night On Broadway" :) Time flies huh!

ARGHHH! I'm just so excited. Honestly speaking, I wasnt pleased with stuff but well, I think I've got to learn to appreciate the littlest things I have yeah. I will treasure every single moment of singing, dancing and acting on those 2 days!

Mostly importantly, I need the strength of God. I believe that He will lead me through this period. I am fearful and all, but I am learning to trust in God! I'm sure things won't happen without His permission!

Arghhh! I just can't wait for the next practice! The wait is killing me! (i know i sound stupid) But seriously, that's all I ever wanted... It means the world to me.

Ok, I want time to fly again!!!!!!!! More practices to come! Yay!

So happy that we could meet up again (esp with EVERYONE) on a school day!!! Hehe, we were already discussing about Christmas already! Can't wait for the celebration! Whoopee!

24th October: One of the best day of my life.

On Friday, I was quite disappointed (or should I say very?) in certain things. At least, I rushed over to join W325 in their cg makan fellowship at Mark's house :D It was good stepping into a cellgroup setting again! There's no place like W325. After that, I joined the cheena peeps at Acelyn's house!! Basically we just slacked there. Then, had supper at Al Alameen! Woot! I LOVE MUTTON MURTUBAK AND LASSIE! Felt sinful at the same time though. Proceeded to Barry's house after supper. I planned to go home about 4am or something but I think we got carried away. Everyone was sleeping! Woke up at about 10am.

Little did I know that Saturday was gonna be a great day!

I'm really happy that I moved on to the next level... Well, I was writing in my diary, "If Phoebe believes in me, why am I not believing in myself?" So, away with the negative perspective and in comes the Maria that would be willing to be at anyone's service!

Lastly, it was our very own DT's Touch Of Heaven!!! Really wanna thank them for allowing me to be part of it. Despite performing for some time already, I feel that every performance is an exposure. I will train myself to be better and better! Those talented people did well too! Lastly, I love my cellgroup!!

They make my life colourful!! Yay! I'm just so happy now that I am cleaning my room! :D

Sometimes I think I live to eat

You know, I think I am a REAL loser when it comes to food. First of all, I always eat more than my share. (eg, I always kop food from peiqing and many others. HAHAHA) Secondly, I hardly reject food when people offer them to me, except lil snacks. And lastly, I finish up every single thing left on my plate.

Ok, I know I am not as bad as Malcolm (or JingWei). But for a girl, I think it is totally absurb. Always thinking of what to eat... Especially during school's first lesson, I would already "book" what to eat during meal time.

My BMI is 23.8, where the acceptable BMI for SINGAPOREANS is 22.9 -___- Please lah, do I have the typical Chinese girl kind of built? In US, the acceptable BMI is 25. So unfair. Oh, I signed up for some talk in my school for those who are considerd overweight. Well, I didn't admit I was overweight but hopefully they can psycho me to exercise more and be healthy... I told them I wanna cut down one dress size. HAHA.

I have decided to set a goal which is to have another fastfood fast for the month of November! That would include no fried chicken wings, french fries and potato chips! It would be killing me as my lecture hall is so near Macdonalds. But I believe that I can do it! So for now, I better stock up on my fastfood! (haha, ok just kidding) For the exercise part, I'll wait for the next time yeah ;) Heh. I have ALWAYS wanted to take a weekly walk to the nature park near my area but no, I have not been doing that. Dad bought me a pair of sports shoes from Batam in March and I have only worn it once :D

Talking about all these, here's a video JingWei made some time ago. Pretty interesting and contradicting. HAHAA! Jing! Make more videos! I'm waiting for that particular topic! ;)

Wednesday won't be so bad... At I finish at 2pm. And on Thursday and Friday, I start at 12pm. Yay!!!!!! School's been scary though. I have no idea what's ahead of me but I hope all will be good. Putting everything in God's hands! Oh, I can't wait for the first musical training! Hope it goes well! :D
