A Milestone

After 10 months on the "express train", I am finally taking my grade 5 singing exam tomorrow! It was always my dream to pursue classical singing since 17 and I'm glad that this dream came true!

This journey was not easy. I had lessons in the morning before my afternoon shift almost every week. It was just so difficult to stand in front of my room's mirror and practice for an hour every other day. That needed a lot of discipline and I'm guilty for not doing it faithfully. Also, learning without any significant music background was hard. BUT I PULLED THROUGH.

Of course I feel very nervous now! But I need to remind myself that I just have to do my best and enjoy that moment in the exam room.

A big thanks to colleagues and friends for being SO encouraging. Not forgetting my teacher who went though this journey with me with much patience and for being my accompanist!

It is just amazing how God can place certain people and situations in my life to make this happen! So, I wanna thank God for His goodness in my life!

Lastly I wanna say that this is not the end. IT'S JUST THE BEGINNING :)

Rantings

This is a blog so I can complain what ever I want.

Yesterday my manager came back from her 3 week leave. I finally got to see her! :O I gave her a hug round her waist(cos i was sitting down). I almost broke down but to avoid embarrassment, I didn't. All the funny or bad stuff that happened in the ward when she wasn't around just came into my mind. She was having a series of meetings and I was quite busy at work yesterday. But if I had the time, I would just wanna sit down and tell her about it.

That just shows how much impact she has on me. Hahaha. She won me over. I can't be bothered if other colleagues were to assume that I am trying to suck up to her(well you may never know). But whatever the case, manager or not, I love her!! Hehe.

And to prove I'm not the sucking up type, I can boldly say here that I am not very fond of the "2nd one". I am trying to be discreet here. I hope no one at work actually reads my blog! Maybe I can't say much here but all I wanna say is that there are some people I can't get along with, and she's one of them.

Then again, I am just lucky to have my current manager as my first boss. I am sure as I move on, the bosses that I encounter won't give me a good time. And that's stopping me from leaving this organisation. Not that I am intending to leave, but if I ever do(maybe there's a 20% chance haha), it will be a painful departure :/

Lesson learnt: As a manager, you need to win your girls' heart! There isn't a need to be strict and anal about certain things. But as along as you build a good relationship, you'll have all of your workers respecting you and keeping the place running in order.

Yeah I totally need that since I am aspiring to be a manager, to run my hospice/nursing home!

Ahhh! She's just so encouraging every time I feel down. Can't wait to meet her again!!

So now I gotta concentrate on my singing exam!!!!! I have 5 more days to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HELPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One More Week!

10 days to be exact to my singing exam! I can feel the jitters! Hope the results will be good! I don't wanna go through these 10 months for nothing.

I'm gonna prove myself and everyone else wrong this time!

A bit of everything

Love these people! Had so much fun just sitting down, eating and figuring out how to prepare and cook the food. Oops. So that was how I spent my chu san!!!

I won't know what else to talk about but singing~ On Valentine's Day, my teacher organised an "exchange session" with all her own students. I think all 4 were supposed to come but only 2 of us could make it. Oh well... It was fun though, just listening to the other student and seeing where I stand. It was nerve wrecking to stand in front of a musician(she plays the piano, should be a very high grade)and sing. Heh. My breathe control sucked. Buck up Maria!!!

The next day I went to book the exact studio of my exam venue for practice. I got a slot THE DAY before the exam. I don't know if it's a good thing or not. But after peeping into the room, I have kinda prepared myself mentally but I still feel very nervous :S I keep reminding myself that if God has brought me to it, He will bring my through it!!

So, for those who have seen me recently, I have been in a "serious mood". Practicing often, avoiding fried or spicy food, not going out and not singing for other stuff. Please excuse me until after 7th March! :D

At the meantime, I have also been brooding over my future... My bond is finishing in about one and a half months. So many things I wanna do and so many options I have. Haish. I really hope whatever I encounter is by God and whatever decision I make is along His purpose for me.

Purpose, is that little flame that lights a fire under your ass
Purpose, it keeps you going strong like a car with a full tank of gas
Everyone else has a purpose, so what's mine?????

Happy CNY!

It's the time of the year once again! I don't know why but I feel SUPER BORED this year. Been lazing at home most of the time. My relatives just come and go, within a span of 3 hours? :/ At least, I have later to look forward to!! Juicez peeps are coming to my place for steamboat after much begging! I will have fun! WOOHOO!

I think I have been doing well so far. Other than eating about 3 pieces of popcorn chicken, I did not touch anything fried and spicy!! Woohoo! And I kinda lost my voice a few days back. It's coming back now. Yay!! Gonna practice singing first thing I wake up in the morning! :D

At the meantime I have been figuring out sight singing before I sleep every night. I hope I can get better... I have enough of my teacher "scolding" me every time. It's time to show her that I'm really serious and trying very hard!

Valentine's Day is coming up and I'm so happy that I'm gonna have a 1hr15min session with my teacher that evening! Really spending that with something I love :') #foreveralone

BKK Trip and Ter's 30th Birthday Celebration!

Looks like I've been busy having too much fun! Ok, not really!! I still got work and singing lessons/practice! Urgh urgh!! Anyway, some photos to share on my BKK trip!

The people who went on this amazing trip!! I simply had too much fun and so much to eat!! But didn't really take a lot of photos because we were enjoying the shopping most of the time! Hehehe! Definitely highly recommended to go there for a getaway if you're into shopping.

Which brings me to this photo! The total purchase for 4 girls! Considered very little actually. They have markets where you can bargain your ass off, and they have high end shopping centers as well! Like, REALLY high end! 

Didn't have the chance to watch any Thai girl show but experienced clubbing there!! Cheap and happening! Super crowded that we had to squeeze around. As that area is part of their industry, there were many ang mos and other foreigners. So, I guess that's how the real clubbing world is like. 

Specially met Roy and Elicia for a day too! Hehehe! The food at Greyhound Cafe was soooo good!!

Went to Dream World the last day! And that explains why I am so tired until now... Almost every night in Bangkok, I slept at about 3-4am and woke up at 11-12noon! Zzzzz. Experiencing jetlag. Haha.

Back at Changi Airport with our newly bought tribal tees!~

Just yesterday, it was Terrence's birthday celebration! Had so much fun dressing up to the theme of "When I grow up" and doing the "musical" we had prepared the past few weeks. Hope he enjoyed it :)

So, I dressed up as an engineer because of 2 reasons. I kinda wanted to be an engineer(abit of influence from dad) and it was super easy to find the costumes! The helmet and safety shoes belonged to dad and the reflecting vest is from my brother!
