Distractions

I have come to a point where I want to immerse myself in work, singing, performance right now. I guess I'm going to reach the breaking point. I can feel it. It's going to be painful, I know but it will all be for my own good.

Meanwhile, I'm thankful for a busy work schedule with a fairly busy workload, a performance on the 17th, wedding gig(s) to practice and my singing lessons. I was so busy the past 2 days and I felt so much happier. So I guess I hate it when I am just left at home to think about my life.

Going to Esplanade on Monday after work to practice for the upcoming performance. Just the dude, guitar and I. Maybe that's my kind of life. Thinking about nothing but making music. I hope that it will be a really good distraction! Just don't let history repeats itself.

God, I can't take it anymore... I really can't.

Yet Another Week

Phew another week and event over!! Very soon, it's gonna be Christmas and end of the year!!! Anyway on Saturday, the Cancer Survivor Dinner was a success! The workshops were so enriching and the dinner was good! Happy to see the survivors getting back to their normal lives and gathering together to share their life-changing experiences with one another. Pity I didn't get to really talk to them personally :/ Because I had to perform! Hehehe!!

Presenting the 2 Cheryls!! Had fun rehearsing and performing with them! It's really cool to know people from other departments! Hope to work with them again! :D

The glimpse of the dinner!!!

Somehow I think I am very grateful to be in the Oncology Support Group. I get involved in these events and get to interact with patients/ex-patients. I learn so much about life from them!! And also people from other departments and hospitals!! So if I get transferred, I can easily adapt with the people I know!

On Sunday, attended little Charlotte's baby shower!!! She's such a darling!! :) Poor girl, always having colic. But she'll get out of it soon!
She will grow up to be a beautiful girl! Hehehehe!!

Rats, Thursday is coming! Gotta practice singing!

Makanplace the Musical by RP

Before I talk about Makanplace the musical, Happy Birthday Roy! :) Our amazing music director! Hohoho! We'll never survive without him.

Little Asher playing the keyboard! Heehee!! He looks sooooo tiny as compared to the adult hands!

After service, rushed over to RP to catch a good friend(or rather stranger), Hafidz who was performing in RP's Makanplace the musical! So how I met him? Let me explain. In 2008, I was wondering around London when I decided to take the London Eye after much contemplation! In the queue, there was a Malay lady in front of me. Then she started to talk across me(to the guy behind actually) to her husband! Lonely I was, I was soooo happy to hear a Singapore accent! Then I asked if they were Singaporeans blah blah. So we talked a lot on board the London Eye and they invited me to have tea with them! They were a really friendly couple :)

We told each other that we would have tea back in Singapore but after 4 and a half years, we didn't!! So watching him in this musical was a good chance to meet them up!! :) Hehe.
ARGHHHH! I miss performing in productions!!! Throw me on the stage and I promise to do well in the role! Yes, I am that desperate! Hafidz acted as the Teh Tarik man!! He had a solo song!! Nice!!!

Tah-dah!! Proof that I did meet him in London!! We were on board the London Eye in this photo :)

Wooohooo!! Finally meeting them up again! They are really friendly. So friendly that they just invited Elson to take a photo together! Btw, thanks Elson for accompanying me :) If not, I would have to watch the musical all by myself. #foreveralone
Looking forward to a teh session with them!! :)

Her Last Wish

After about 3 years of fighting cancer, she is now running the last lap. There were many ups and downs. The good times, where she could go back to her normal lifestyle after the operation and the bad times, when there was a recurrence and had to go through an operation, a few invasive procedures and suffer the pain.

I mean it's good. She's finishing the race soon. Very soon, all these will end and she does not need to suffer anymore. The moment this race ends, she will be able to see her husband once again and be with the Lord.

The current plan is for her to go to the hospice. But before that, she had requested to go back home one last time. Her relative told me that she hasn't gone back home since the latest op, which was 3 months ago. She wanted to have a last look, especially photos of her late husband in photo frames. Shortly after her husband died, she was down with cancer. Sad :(

I have seen her persevere. Her race was not easy at all. She is really a good patient. Not bothering us at all and cooperating so well with us.

I can imagine the moment she steps home, it's like saying goodbye to everything. She would probably pick up a significant item, stare at it and reminisce the past. And then after doing it over a few items, she will leave. At the door step, she will have one last look. At the point of time, her heart will be so settled and she will be ready to go anytime.

I really hope that this wish of hers will happen. We are all in the midst of making arrangements. That is what nursing is all about to me.

She is definitely a patient worth crying for.

The Sleepy Weekend

Recently I kinda screwed up my body clock. Or rather, I have been sleepy 24/7. Hahaha. It all started when I was working on Friday morning. Saturday was initially an off day for me. I was planning to guai guai go for LifeGroup meeting(I love lgms btw!! hehehee), then go home and prepare for church on Saturday! But my colleague asked me to change shift. So I had to work on Saturday morning and Sunday was off for me. I'm such a nice colleague! Willing to change shift :P That was when I was invited by Elson to chillax at Bungee Bar after LifeGroup meeting...

I already realised that I had to work morning shift the next day. But anyhow, I slept at 2.30am and woke up at 5am. Haha! Amazing right? I know! I was too tired that I took a nap from 12noon to 12.20pm during work. Phew!

After work, went to church and then attended ListenIn". It was a session for different churches to gather and share their music! It was so good! Now, I am so inspired to write songs!! Wrote one halfway today! Hope I can improve it bit by bit and one day it can be sung to worship God in church! After that, caught up with Elson in Macdonalds till 3am! Zzzzz! Ultimate tired! Slept at 5am!! 24 hours without sleep! Hohoho!
Woke up at 3pm on Sunday! Then headed out to my cousin's house with my family!! I was already so tired, but I had to drive my folks. Had a good chit chat session with them and we also had a mini birthday celebration for Dad! :D
He was so shy!!! Now I know where I get the shyness from when it comes to birthdays! Hehehe. Once again, featuring my pretty cousin!!! :)

I had to go to work on Monday but yay! I did not need to work in the ward. Ok, maybe just helped out a bit for awhile because most of the time I was in the auditorium preparing for the Patient Safety Day skit!! Hehe. I'm glad that overall, it turned out well!! Makes me miss acting!

A bubbly photo of me! Ok, I was not trying to act as myself... I was in character :P
My real normal reaction is like this :|.. As described by Jing.

I love this photo with my manager!!! Heee! Trust me, she is the nicest manager ever! So, so much to learn her. Humble and understanding.. She doesn't read my blog! So it means that she is really nice and I am not trying to *ahem*

So I ended at about 5pm... Went home for dinner and headed to Christine's house!! Now, I look forward to visiting her because of this!
Not the air-con! The light! Ahhhh! It gives me the "wen luan de gan jue". Ahh, lying on the sofa and staring at it is so therapeutic! Looking forward to the next visit!!!!!!

Pardon me if I had bore-ed you with the little details of my life. Anyway, this blog is to accumulate all the moments and then for me to read it back after 10 years!! I love reminiscing the past! :)

Singing update: My teacher last Thursday said that that lesson was good! YAY!! For now, we have been focusing on the little nitty gritty details of the song. Becoming really serious! So the stress really kicks in and I'm feeling it! Urgh! I just feel motivated to sing ONLY in the presence of my teacher! At home without her, I have to force myself so hard!!! Hehe, I started on a German song. In my mind I was like, "Oh, German song... Been to Germany before, tried speaking the language and hearing it... Should not be a problem, I would probably excel in it~" Then my teacher started singing it. My jaw dropped! Her diction was excellent! Owned me upside down! Ok, I gotta work on it! Hiak hiak!!

Hmmm...

Sometimes I wonder...

Do prophecies really happen? I meant the joking random ones...
