Awesome 2013 so far
1) Performing in MBS ballroom as Marilyn Monroe. And I shall confess it in faith: I WILL GET FIRST!
2) Returning back to NYP taking Advanced Diploma- The motto Jing and I sort of created would me "Back to school with style" :PPP
3) SoundCard Production 2013. Scary to juggle school and this BUT I CAN DO THIS!
Ok, I hope to have more exciting things filling up my 2013 :D

Thoughts...
Someway, somehow, this certificate ended up in my bedroom. It's probably the highest recognition/award a nurse could ever have. This belongs to one of the ex-NM who used to run the ward I am working in. And coincidentally, another ex-NM in my ward previously got this award too! Is my ward blessed or something? Haha.
My NM wanted me to bring this home to show my Dad. But I guess her being her, she just wants me to take a good look at it and be inspired by it. And me being me, I told her I ain't interested in such thingys.
After working for 2 years and 5 months, I feel that personal satisfaction is more important than any recognition around. So, the million-dollar question... Am I satisfied with myself? Nope.. Definitely not.... Yesterday, I was somehow reminded once again of how my character can sabotage me real bad at work.
I was kinda labelled by my senior staff as "the one who has a maid at home" just because I didn't happen to see the extra stuff hanging/lying around in my cubical. What's more, she whispered to someone else in front of me and then smirked at me. Truth be told, it hurts and it hurts real badly to have such words thrown to me in front of my colleagues and students around. I ran to my usual hiding place to release the tears I tried to hold back so much in front of everyone. I kept telling myself that it's ok... Everything's alright. I didn't want to attract any attention. I hope I didn't.
Sometimes, I do wonder... Am I really a joke? Everything that I say or do... Because I know how to crack jokes. Because I know how to make the ward a slightly happier place to work in... Must I then be treated as a joke? Why do I only get such treatment?
I guess the lesson learnt is if I become a senior one day, I have to be tactful in my words. Afterall, the whole point is to maintain the standard of the ward. Not to mock or despise my juniors around. And may I also encourage them every time that everyone has their own weaknesses, so it's ok to make mistakes, work harder around their weaknesses and improve.
On an angsty mode: It's just funny how some people have no self-realisation. She could comment why the morning staff did not do some stupid system stuff for the PM and night shift. Then when she was on morning shift the day before, she didn't do the same thing. Or how she didn't return a certain thing when discharging patient, and how I had the politely remind her and settle it in the end. It would definitely be a different story if I left stuff out and if she realises it.
And because of all these, will I ever be satisfied with myself?? Maybe? Yes? One day... I guess.
And the certificate, thank you for staying by my bedside to let me think... I definitely do not want you and do not deserve to have you but you have reminded me to work with excellence and that God's grace and mercy is with me all the time :)

Maria Monroe hehehe
I also had to present ISO stuff during the meeting for the first time! Come to think of it, it sounds scary... WHY must I present ISO stuff? :/ I guess I will be heavily involved during the audit period. Gotta stop making a fool out of myself :P
From ISO to magnet to SQ stuff... And my name was mentioned in patient's feedback form 8 times this year, which is the 3rd highest in the ward. So yay! I can say that it's an achievement for me! It's my first time receiving this kind of award award(even though it's informal) thingy since I started work. My manager actually asked me what I did. I said that I feared complaints, so I was obliged to treat the patients nicely. HAHAHA!! That's the worst answer ever! Cannot lah... Too paiseh to say, "Because I treat the patients with love...." etc etc and all the politically correct crap.
The biggest joke of the century is that I(ME, MYSELF, MARIA) bought the reward and the colour paper was provided by me! Without me knowing that I was going to receive it hehehhee. Btw, I look hideous most of the time at work :/

Nurses' Day 2013
Oh, it was m first time putting on make up in my uniform after working for 2+ years :P I had positive comments, so thank you very much! Negative comments would be, "There aren't any ugly girls just lazy girls!!" and "At your age, you should and must doll up yourselg. You are no longer a teenager. Laziness will not get you anywhere!!!" So scary :/ But I like! HAHAHAHA!
My dear Irena was there too as an usher for obvious reasons. Hehehe. Glad that she was there :)
My beloved SENIOR NM(hehehehehe). Who was practically busy as the assistant stage manager!
The emcees of the event! :D Love us together in our different uniforms!
My partner Anu from NHC!
Random people but those who attended!!!!
After the whole event I was super sweaty, smelly and shagged! Made our way back to KKH from SGH. Visited my god ma! Hehehe I kinda love this photo! This pictures shows that I usually hang out at level 6 office with my god ma!(like real god ma like that!!!)
Yupyup!! Definitely PROUD to be a nurse! Loving my patients always heheh. Happy that for now, I am going back to studying! I really hope that I can do well to get my sponsored degree also.
Happy Nurses' Day to me :)

Must I Eat Other Dogs?
So I have been offered to take my advanced diploma in oncology this year by God's grace :) Why did I accept it? Because that is sort of the only way to achieve my degree(with free education) and then ultimately reach my dream.
So what's my dream again? To run a nursing home for all the ah gongs and ah mas. Just that. I don't yearn for fame or money or power.
Was called into my manager's room and she started telling me that I should get involved in projects in the hospital despite being away for studies. She said that I needed to build up my resume for my degree application in the future. Of course I know it's never easy to get what I want. She is really helping me. I will work hard. I do not mind having meetings and all, and I always love mixing with people from different departments.
Then, she started comparing myself with the other prominent people. I then realise it's as if I have to fight to be known, and to prove that I'm smart (which I am totally not). Kinda reminds me of the 9pm show... Where I have to step up my game to be ahead of my colleagues.
Can I just be myself? :/ Getting involved in stuff because I want to. Contributing ideas because I want things to improve. Represent my organisation because I am proud to be part of it.
Ok, that's enough senseless ranting for now...
